Dr. James Hamrick joined Caris Life Sciences in December 2024 as Chairman of the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance™ (Caris POA). In this role, Dr. Hamrick leads Caris’ global network of top cancer centers and research institutions that collaborate to advance precision oncology and biomarker-driven research. He works closely with Caris POA members to establish and optimize standards of care for molecular testing through innovative research to improve clinical outcomes for cancer patients.
Before joining Caris, Dr. Hamrick was Vice President, Clinical Oncology for Flatiron Health, where he directed clinical strategy and oversaw the development of frontline clinical products for community oncologists. Prior to Flatiron Health, he served as Chief of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Kaiser Permanente Georgia and practiced as a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist at Georgia Cancer Specialists. Dr. Hamrick is currently on the board of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE) and previously served on the Kaiser Permanente National Inter-Regional Cancer Leadership Council.
Dr. Hamrick is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He earned his MD and an MPH in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina and completed his residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. In addition to his extensive academic and clinical experience, Dr. Hamrick has co-authored numerous publications and patents, enabling groundbreaking research and advancements in cancer care.
