The Caris Foundation International, in partnership with the Catholic Medical Mission Board, supports the Ministry of Health’s Package of Essential Services. More than 4,000 health professionals have been trained and supported since the program’s launch in 2017. Several times each month, site teams and technical leads visit hospitals and clinics to advise and train health workers, and to support excellence in maternal-child health, nutrition, vaccination, family planning, HIV/tuberculosis and infectious diseases, community health, supply chain, human resources for health, laboratory services, and planning for risks and disasters.
Project Santé is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and extends to 164 locations, serving more than 4.8 million people nationwide in Haiti.
Caris Kenya supports more than 25,000 rural women and children who are marginalized and live in poverty in the Malindi, Kenya region. We empower our participants through self-sustainable economic welfare utilizing their own resources and potential; physical, emotional and spiritual wellness by training in health and nutrition, offering counseling and mentoring spiritual formation; stewardship skills that equip them to manage their own resources including money, land, time and talent; and service to their communities by training them to become change agents who lead and facilitate solutions to community concerns and problems.
IMPACT YOUTH is a comprehensive program available in 132 hospitals nationwide for orphans and vulnerable children and their households, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and young women in Haiti. To date, more than 1,000 HIV-positive adolescents and approximately 4,000 HIV-positive pregnant women/mothers have been enrolled in support clubs.
Through Impact Youth we: expand early identification of HIV-infected infants and ensure viral load testing and a pathway to treatment, improve health care and social service delivery for HIV-infected and affected orphans and vulnerable children, and increase the capacity of families and communities to care for orphans and vulnerable children, including HIV risk prevention among adolescent girls and young women.
